Involvement with the Memphis Police
On the 30th, my purse was stolen from the trunk of my car. I set the purse on the back of my car while I went to remove a hose from the side of the house. I was not away from the purse for more than five minutes and it was taken.

That night I filed a police report that the following were missing:

Purse
Wallet
License
Credit cards
Cell phone
iPod shuffle (the original gen)
Digital camera
270 in cash (post Chistmas :()
Check book
USB drive with all info written for my AP course= Priceless!
Earrings
Keys to house and car
Birth Control... 2 days from New Year's Eve? OUCH!

Total Value= 900 dollars, deductible on home owner's insurance 1000.

That night Jamie changed all the locks on my house so I would feel safer...

The Next Day:

I went to my bank, got new car keys made and tried to get life back to normal.

On the first of 2009 I received a phone call from one of my athletes that the police have found some of my stuff and would bring it by. The police officer comes over with the earrings and the USB drive- yippeee! Apparently it was found in the flower bed of a homeowner about a block from my house. He tells me the road name where it was found. I then went to that road and as I drove through the alley I see my purse. The purse was there with my wallet, id, credit cards and my check book. Cash, keys, cell phone and camera were taken.

I call the cop again and tell him of my findings. He told me he wouldn't take prints as it was sitting out there in the cold for a few days... hmmm. Odd response.

All in all I got MOST of my stuff back. Odds are it was a kid that took the stuff, and a kid I know.

Memphis City cops have more important stuff to do than to help me find my purse... so I guess that is why I found it myself.

When I get over the paranoia that this happened at my own home life will be back to normal.

Happy 2009!

That was almost polite. She really should have left the keys and maybe the cell phone.

Anything on the phone that can come back to haunt you?

Good point. Not sure what was left on the cell phone. I am mostly a saint these days I know it has nothing to do with current life. Just cannot remember what I had saved... ;)

One of my students says they know who stole the stuff, but is chicken to snitch. Maybe I should pick his 90 pound self up and shake him.
